is a unique sounding French symphonic progressive band from the 1970s who released 2 albums and a 7" single.

Their debut album, "Et après", is a fine blend of styles, ranging from fellow French symphonic bands like Ange, Atoll and Carpe Diem, but also with a blend of Steve Hackett style guitar playing, as well as a hint of "Wish You Were Here", era Pink Floyd.After their debut release, there were some line-up changes, with drummer, Didier Busson being replaced by Christopher Boulanger. Pascal Libergé came into the band as a keyboard player, alongside Jean-François Périer.

Their second release "L’Écume des jours d’après Boris Vian" is a concept album, based on the 1947 philosophical novel "L’Ecume des jours" (Froth on the Daydream), by Boris Vian.It appears that in 1981, they released a single "Sparadrap/Telephone", but there seems to be no accompanying album.MEMORIANCE’s style on "Et Après", has somewhat of a jazz rock feel at times, but also prevalent is a strong bass sound, some luscious guitar playing (two lead guitars at times) - that is never outrageous - yet is skillfully played. There is also psychedelic rock moments, reminiscent of Pink Floyd, especially in the keyboard and guitar sounds. Overall, they’re never over-the-top or heavy, but they always manage to stay interesting, due to their songs having several movements.A relatively unknown and unique band, even in France, they have managed to record some excellent music and deserve to be heard. If you enjoy the ROGER WATERS era PINK FLOYD, ANGE, ATOLL, CARPE DIEM as well as other symphonic prog, you will enjoy MEMORIANCE.

Memoriance- Et Aprés...

A very enjoyable symphonic record from France that was released in 1976.I like the way they use spacey synths on this album,and the guitar work is quite tasteful.The bass is upfront much of the time. Je Ne San Plus opens with prominant drums until a nice spacey sound comes in around a minute.Vocals are in french and i like them.When the vocals stop the bass,drums and guitar really stand out each time.The tempo picks up 3 1/2 minutes in as we get this prolonged instrumental section with piano.Female vocal melodies 5 1/2 minutes in and the male vocals follow after 6 minutes as she continues.This is my favourite track off the album. La Grange Memoriance opens with drums and guitar before it turns spacey.I like the way the guitar seems to play on endlessly.Keys before 4 1/2 minutes as the guitar stops.Guitar and drums are back quickly as the tempo picks up.The tempo slows right down after 6 minutes as vocals arrive for the first time in this song.Great sound.He yells before 9 minutes as they kick into a higher gear.It sounds so good around 10 1/2 minutes in. Et Apres is maybe even better than the opening track.It's like 1a and 1b for me.The guitar is more aggressive on this tune and check out the druming 3 1/2 minutes in.Vocals 6 1/2 minutes in for first time are whispered and then spoken.The guitar and drums are outstanding 9 minutes in. Tracsir opens with solid drumming and prominant bass as guitar plays over top.The tempo picks up before 3 minutes and shifts again slightly on this instrumental. A very pleasant and enjoyable listen.

Love Sculpture was a British blues-rock band of the late 1960s, led by Dave Edmunds (born David Edmunds, 15 April 1943, Cardiff, South Wales), plus bassist John Williams (born John David Williams, 19 January 1946, Cardiff, Wales) and drummer Rob 'Congo' Jones (born Robert Jones, 13 August 1946, Barry, South Wales).

Love Sculpture formed in Cardiff in 1966 out of the remnants of another local band called The Human Beans, and disbanded in 1970, although Edmunds went on to enjoy solo success in the 1970s. The band itself was essentially a showpiece for Edmunds' considerable technical ability on the guitar. Love Sculpture mostly performed blues standards, slightly revved-up, but still largely reverent to the originals, releasing their debut album, Blues Helping with such songs as "Summertime", "Wang Dang Doodle" etc. They are best known for their 1968 novelty hit in the UK Singles Chart, a high speed cover version of the classical piece "Sabre Dance", by Aram Khachaturian, released on the Parlophone label (R 5744). The recording was inspired by Keith Emerson's classical rearrangements. "Sabre Dance" became a hit after garnering the enthusiastic attention of British DJ John Peel.

This was followed by a second album Forms and Feelings, with songs including: "In The Land of the Few", "Farandole", "People People", "Seagull" and the equally fast cover of Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me". The U.S. version of the album also featured a recording of "Mars" from Gustav Holst's The Planets, but Holst's estate refused to license the song for the U.K. version.
They recorded three times for BBC Radio 1's John Peel sessions in 1968 (twice) and 1969.
Love Sculpture split up after a U.S. tour, having recorded two albums. Edmunds shortly went on to further number one hit success with "I Hear You Knocking", and collaborated heavily with ex-Brinsley Schwarz bassist Nick Lowe, eventually forming the band Rockpile with him.

Thomas Arnesen brought this band together in the spring of 2002 in order to play some material that was in some way modern, yet in blues form and with a genuine blues feel. Some of the songs are his own and some are traditional standards - old favourites and new ones. Some thoroughly arranged, others more loosely.
He felt a need to develop an ambitious musical co-operation with a fixed constellation of good musicians within the area of blues music.

"The seeds of BYZANTIUM were sewn in 1970, with Jamie Rubenstein and Nico Ramsden (who wouldn't appear until the second album) as an acoustic duo. Some recording was done with the help of friend Robin Sylvester, but sales were at best disappointing. Soon they were joined by vocalist Beverly Baxter (who it seems, never actually followed them into the studio), and Robin Lamble on bass. After some success with live gigs, Steve Corduner (a former band mate of Nico and Robin) joined on drums. Now hey had a viable band assembled. However, Jamie had reservations about the whole thing, and left. Chaz Jankel came along to fill the void. With this lineup, they were set for success.

They scored a contract with A&M, and it seemed as if the rock and roll dreams were coming true. But, as in every good rock story, problems arose. Just as the debut album (on which Jamie does appear as a guest) was released, Nico left, citing "musical differences." During this time, Jamie had been playing with Mick Barakan (another friend from school). Back through the revolving door he went, with Mick in tow. This resulted in their second album, "Seasons Changing." This time the theme was group effort, as everyone contributed to writing.

Chaz was not pleased with the new direction, and left the band (he would end up backing Ian Drury). A&M seemed to share Chaz's opinion, and dropped BYZANTIUM from the label.They toiled on their own for a while, even pressing another album, that was unfortunately never available for sale. They toured, and continued to draw crowds. In 1975 they played their last show where they started, at the Roundhouse.

The song "Fire" (released as a single and in the 1968 album) was one of the one-hit wonders in the UK of 1960s.
Crane and Palmer went on to form Atomic Rooster, Nicholas went on to Khan [1] (as Nicholas Greenwood), Theaker to Love and then Rustic Hinge, and Brown to Kingdom Come.

Le Orme
("The Footprints") is an Italian psychedelic and progressive rock band formed in 1966 in Marghera (Venice).
Their first record was for the tiny Car Juke Box label, in 1968.
They earned two gold albums, a discography critic award, an England Tour. Le Orme's most famous work, the concept album Felona e Sorona, was issued in English in collaboration with Peter Hammill of Van der Graaf Generator.
Le Orme's last three works (Il fiume, Elementi and L'infinito) show a return to a classic progressive sound, and form somewhat of a trilogy pivoting on the "becoming" of the human being.

The 1966 founders of the band were Aldo Tagliapietra (voice, guitars), Nino Smeraldi (guitars), Claudio Galietti (guitar, bass) and Marino Rebeschini (drums). After the single "Fiori e colori" (1967), Rebeschini left and was replaced by Michi dei Rossi. In 1968 they issued a second single, "Senti l'estate che torna". At the same time a new musician, Toni Pagliuca, joined the group. This line-up was responsible of the first LP, Ad gloriam (1968), a pop-psychedelic work that scored little success.
The following year, Gallietti left also, and Le Orme found what was to be considered their "classic" line-up, which issued their most renowned progressive LPs of the 1970s (Uomo di pezza, Felona e Sorona and Contrappunti).
The last two works saw the collaboration of producer and piano player Gian Piero Reverberi.
The group split up in the early 1980s, but reformed in 1986. In 1992 Pagliuca left the band, and was replaced by Michele Bon.

WICKED MINDS is a young Italian band, and "From the Purple Skies" is their debut album. In the CD press kit their music is described as seventies' Hard Rock with psychedelic and progressive elements and is compared to Warhorse, Arzachel, Waterloo, and a few other bands, which are unknown to me.

I liked most of the albums that I received for my review this autumn, and I have even forgotten when I heard something ordinary for the last time (not counting the latest by Yoke Shire, of course). This gladdens me very much, though I feel I must be especially objective when writing one positive review after another. Which demands from me much more attention when listening to music, so I often resort to a few repeated listens, which, in its turn, takes more time than usual. Reiterations in the reviews are also inevitable in such cases. And how would I avoid them, without losing the authenticity of my words, if I meet the same phenomenon in different works? As you will see below, the situation around the purity of a style on this recording and those on the latest albums by The Black and Zess are identical. (By that, however, any similarities between the bands are ending.) Well, Wicked Minds present the listener ten songs with English lyrics, all being at once filled with the distinctive English spirit and what I would call the '70s' magic. Really. Apart from the band's own compositions, there are the renderings of Pentagram's Forever My Queen and Uriah Heep's very first hit Gypsy. I think I'd better tell you right now that both of them sound heavier than the originals and are more diverse than them, at least. Otherwise I would have called in question their inclusion in the album, which, by the way, is monstrously long at 78+ minutes. I don't find the outfits that are mentioned in the CD press kit as being kindred with Wicked Minds to be really suitable for the comparison. Whereas the names of the band's real teachers in absentia are too well known to leave them overboard: Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd. The album opens with the title track, on which the band as if decided to show that they are easily able to be on par with their favorites. Having managed to unite the three different styles into one cohesive whole, they played the mixture at an extremely high speed. This is progressive Hard Rock, not Prog-Metal, and I don't know any Hard Rock band that would have played as fast as Wicked Minds did on the opening number. It is performed so masterfully and is so impressive that the fact of its derivativeness loses any relevance. The Elephant Stone displays a similar picture. However, the Pink Floyd influence is absent, while the band's original compositional thinking becomes more apparent. There is a rather long episode with purely symphonic textures, provided by passages of acoustic guitar and solos of Hammond, which does not evoke any associations, to say the least. Apart from the last cut (and not counting the renditions, of course), all the following tracks are absolutely free of influences, and just all of them without exception are outstanding, from any standpoint. All the terms and epithets I've used when described Zess's sudden turn to a completely original sound are topical in this case, too, though I must add that the level of progressiveness of Wicked Minds' music is much higher. The style is either progressive Cathedral Metal with elements of symphonic Art-Rock as on Across the Sunrise, Forever My Queen, Rising Above, Queen of Violet, and Gypsy or a balanced blend of these genres as on Drifting and Space Child. Both of the latter songs feature a guest flute player, as well as Return to Uranus. This 18-minute epic is like a container of all the textures, original and derived, that are available on the previous tracks. Finally, I'd like to mention that the band's keyboard equipment consists exclusively of vintage models: Hammond, Moog, Mellotron, Rhodes, and Grand Piano. They are used nearly everywhere on the album, so I would say its sonic palette is unbelievably rich in symphonic colors. Generally, the music is so inflammatory and driving that I can't stop myself from playing the CD at least once a day.

The conclusion on Wicked Minds' debut outing won't be verbose. Although some derivativeness has been found, "From the Purple Skies" is the most impressive and simply the best progressive Hard Rock album I've heard in many years.

Birth Control
is a German Krautrock band known for their progressive hard-rock sound and provocative album covers.

Birth Control formed in the middle of 1968 in Berlin from two other bands, the Earls and the Gents. The initial members were: Bernd Koschmidder (bass), Reinhold Sobotta (organ), Rolf Gurra (saxophone and vocals), Fritz Groeger (vocals), Klaus Orso (guitar), Reiner Borchert (guitar), and Hugo Egon Balder (percussion).

The name of the band was a response to Pope Paul VI's declaration that contraceptives were sinful.

Their 9'47" lasting single Gamma Ray (1975) is still an international discotheque hit.

After a series of disappointing albums in the early 1980s, the group disbanded, but reunited in 1993 with new members. The band continues to tour in Germany and release new albums periodically.

Originalita britských rockových hledačů Gravy Train byla vystavěna na kontrastu takřka všudypřítomné hravé flétny s úporně tlučenými bicími a zvláštním způsobem valivě zkreslené kytary. Nervní skřípavý škrcený hlas Normana Barratta pak osobitost Gravy Train podtrhoval. Mně osobně zní jejich folk/heavy jako Jethro Tull přikovaní k Iron Butterfly.
U zrodu Gravy Train stál Norman Barratt, známý jako kytarista a zpěvák jenž vystřídal Jimmiho Pagea v Lord Sutch & Heavy Friends, podivuhodného to seskupení kolem nedávno zemřelého ulítlého excentrika Davida Sutche. Narodil se v roce 1949 v Newton le Willows, mezi Manchesterem a Liverpoolem. Svou hudební kariéru začal v místních skupinách The Hunters a Newton's Theory, s nimiž přesídlil koncem šedesátých let do Londýna.
Gravy Train prakticky ihned po založení v březnu 1969 (Manchester) podepisují kontrakt s progresivním labelem Vertigo a narychlo nahrávají a vydávají svou prvotinu. V případě této skupiny nemohu sloužit žádnými příběhy, nejsou prostě k dispozici, o to více se soustředím na hudbu samotnou.

Gravy Train (1970) začíná jethrotullovskou flétničkou v The New One , v polovině doslova přefiknutou Barrattovým řezákem. Zprvu podobně laděnou Dedication To Sid rozvinou dvojzpěvy Barratta a Hughese, navazující psychadelické vyhrávky ostře vazbené kytary, trilkující flétny a další alto-tenorové foukačky. Bluesovku Coast Road s gradujícím propletencem kytary, flétny a saxíků a ležérním rytmickým doprovodem považuji za jeden z vrcholů alba. Na jednoduchou rytmickou úderku Enterprise navazuje Think Of Life s parádním ústředním hardrockovým riffem, doprovázeným samozřejmě flétnou létavicí. Závěr debutu patří zbytečně natažené 16-ti minutovce Earl Of Pocket Nook, z větší části tvořené překvapivě nezáživnou instrumentální pasáží.

I druhé album je připravováno pod firmou Vertigo.
(A Ballad of) A Peaceful Man (1971) je oproti poměrně syrovému debutu od první noty slyšitelně zaoblenější a propracovanější, skladby mají svá akustická zákoutí, předehry, mezihry, objevují se orchestrální pasáže, varhany a mellotrony, až na jednu výjimku pomalé skladby jsou propojeny. Album otevírá expresivně zpívaná balada Alone In Georgia, plynule přecházející v skvěle vystavěný titulní opus, střídavě melancholický a pateticky vypjatý. V dané linii pokračuje i Jule's Delight s čarovnou flétnovou mezihrou a sólující basou. Rané Camel evokuje zprvu akustická perlivá posléze mellotronově sladkobolná, nakonec kytarově syrová Messenger, v níž Norman Barratt prokládá v pianissimech svůj skřípák niternými hlasovými polohami. Úderný riff Can Anybody Hear Me, hraný flétnou (!), plus křičící Barratt evokují vzpomínky na debut. Uriášovské chóry, santanovská rytmika, colosseovská pasáž se saxíkem - to vše zní v Old Tin Box, šťavnatá odpichovka Won't Talk About It je kombinací Jethro Tull s Who. Zklidnělá Home Again uzavírá album, patřící svou kvalitou do zlatého fondu rocku.
Během roku 1972 přesídlují Gravy Train k firmě Dawn.

Second Birth (1973). Morning Coming je zvláštní složeninou jednoduchého riffu, byrdsovských backgroundů a baskytarových prostocviků. Nezvykle tvrdou Peter označují někteří hudební publicisté za nepovedenou kopii Grand Funk Railroad. Něžná, opět westcoastově zpěvavá September Morning News pak připomíná Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Motorway zastupuje na trojce takzvaný progresivní rock, bohužel ne moc povedený - je to v podstatě neustálý sled pártaktových motivků, rytmických laufů a cvičebnicových instrumentálních meziher. Fields And Factories je taktéž pokusem o prokomponovaný kus, chybí však chytlavý hlavní motiv, je to opět takový neuspořádaný slepenec. Jednoduchému popěvku Strength Of A Dream se "slide" kytarou by naproti tomu pár oživujících vsuvek prospělo. Tolpuddle Episode je rodnou sestrou September Morning News. Na elpé závěrečná titulka Second Birth je klasický progresivistický kousek jaksepatří, spraví chuť. Z neznáma vyhrabané rock'n'boogie Goodtime Girl představuje Gravy Train v roli zpomalených Status Quo. Second Birth je koncepčně dosti rozhárané album, nemá tvář, je to hudební mišmaš, chtělo by se říci od každého něco ... dohromady nic, ale to by bylo přeci jenom příkré.

Přípravy čtvrtého alba se zúčastnila řada hostů, mezi nimi i hráč na syntezátory Pete Solley (Trampline, Snafu).
Staircase To The Day (1974) posunulo Gravy Train směrem k rockovému hlavnímu proudu. Dva z hostů například hrají na syntezátory. Starbright Starlight je přizdobená neagresivní hardrockovka s rozdrnčenými kytarami a doprovodnými syntíky. Zaměnitelná (např. s Nazareth z období Exercises) je i jižanská balada s piánem a slide kytarou Bring My Life On Back To Me. Hlavní motiv Never Wanted You mně taky cosi sakra připomíná - no vzpomenu si až to nebudu potřebovat - jo zrychlenou After Midnight od J. J. Calea. Titulní osmiminutový opus, inspirovaný částečně klasickou hudbou, viz. bachovské intro, se zvolna rozvíjí kolem ústředního motivu do košaté krásy, v gradujícím finále se přidávají mellotrony a chóry. Zpět na zem, soulově šponovaná hardrocková Going For A Quick One má šťávu i když je pro Gravy Train netypická. Bowiovské Barratovo zaříkávání ozvláštňuje akustickou pár-akordovou The Last Day. Cembalo a piáno kralují ve snové Evening Of My Life. Závěrečný opus Busted In Schenectady je druhým vrcholem alba - silnými motivy nabušená osmiminutovka z nezvyklými nástroji typu "cosmic clavinet", wah-wah kytarou a snad přímo z floydovské One Of These Days převzatou pulsní pádivou rytmikou. Čtvrté album sice také nemá osobitost prvých dvou, na rozdíl od předchozího však naštěstí oplývá kvalitními silnými písněmi.

Po rozpuštění Gravy Train se Norman Barratt stal aktivním věřícím a v hudební kariéře pokračoval v rámci křesťanských skupin. V roce 1977 vydal u firmy Word Records album The Prize se skupinou Alwyn Wall Band. Na přelomu sedmé a osmé dekády působil v Mandala Band a Victor Brox Blues Train. V roce 1980 formuje svůj Barratt Band a o rok později s ním vydává Playing In The City. Poté se pro evropsko-americké turné dává znovu dohromady s Larry Normanem a Alwyn Wall, nahrává s nimi Alwyn's Invisible Warfare (1982) a živák Friends On Tour (198?). Časem obnovuje Barratt Band a vydává dvě další elpé Voice (1983) a Rock For All Ages.
Znechucen poměry u CCM se posléze Barratt omezuje na hraní v kostele ve svém bydlišti, jako studiový hráč spolupracuje mj. s Paulem Youngem ze Sad Café, Mike Rutherfordem z Genesis a Andy Prattem.
Po překonání vleklých zdravotních potíží s očima, které jej vyřadily na čtyři roky z muzikantského života pracuje dnes Norman Barratt pro křesťanské vydavatelství DML.

Stephen Richard Hackett

(born 12 February 1950) is a British songwriter and guitarist. He gained prominence as a member of the British progressive rock group Genesis, which he joined in 1970. Hackett remained with the band for eight albums before leaving in 1977 to pursue a solo career.
In 1986, Hackett co-founded the supergroup GTR with another progressive guitarist, Steve Howe of Yes and Asia. The group released a self-titled album that year, which peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and spawned the Top 20 single "When the Heart Rules the Mind". When Hackett left GTR in 1987, the group disbanded.
After leaving GTR, Hackett resumed his solo career and has released albums and toured on a regular basis since. His body of work has encompassed many styles, such as progressive rock, world music, and classical. His playing has influenced guitarists such as Alex Lifeson and Brian May.

Biography
Hackett was born in Pimlico, London and attended the Sloane Grammar School, Chelsea.
He grew up having access to various musical instruments, such as the recorder and mouth organ, but did not develop an interest in the guitar until the age of twelve, when he started playing single notes. By fourteen, he was learning chords and experimenting with chord progressions, although he never received any formal instruction. Hackett's earliest musical influences were classical (Johann Sebastian Bach) and opera (Mario Lanza). He has stated that his compositions are still influenced by them. Hackett also has cited numerous British blues artists as influences, namely Danny Kirwan, Peter Green, and various guitarists in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.

Early career
Steve Hackett's earliest professional playing experience came with two bands — Canterbury Glass and Sarabande — both of whom performed rock with progressive elements. His first recording work came in 1970, as a member of Quiet World, a band that included younger brother John Hackett on flute. The group released one album, The Road, but Hackett departed the group soon after.
Hackett, seeking a new band, placed an ad in Melody Maker. The ad, in which Hackett stated he was seeking musicians "determined to strive beyond existing stagnant music forms," was spotted by Genesis vocalist Peter Gabriel, who contacted Hackett. The band had recently lost founding member Anthony Phillips, and was performing with a temporary guitarist, Mick Barnard. After seeing Genesis perform, Hackett auditioned for the group and joined in December 1970.

Genesis
Hackett, who had very little on-stage playing experience when he joined Genesis, had some initial difficulty performing with the group. According to Phil Collins, at Hackett's first gig with the group, Collins had decided to see how many bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale he could drink and still play the drums.But he soon settled into his role, and his unique stage image (wearing glasses and seated in a hunched position over his guitar) served as a counter to the costumed theatrics of Gabriel.
Hackett's first recording with Genesis was Nursery Cryme, released in November 1971. Hackett made an immediate impact on the group's sound, as evidenced by his work on such songs as "The Musical Box" and "The Return of the Giant Hogweed", becoming one of the first guitarists to experiment with the tapping technique normally attributed to Eddie Van Halen. (The continuo part in the song sounds like a synthesizer due to distortion and due to his legato tapping technique as well as Tony Banks's simultaneous Hohner Pianet continuo).

Although Nursery Cryme was not a commercial success, 1972's album Foxtrot was. (However, it only charted in the UK, reaching number 12) Included on Foxtrot was the brief classical acoustic solo "Horizons," which quickly became one of his signature pieces.
Foxtrot began a trend of increasing commercial popularity for Genesis. The group's 1973 effort, Selling England by the Pound, was particularly successful, reaching number 70 in the US the year after its release, and reaching number 3 in the UK (marking the bands' peak with Peter Gabriel there). Hackett showed continued and perfected use of the tapping technique as well as sweep picking popularised in the 1980s by Yngwie Malmsteen. Both these techniques can be heard on the solo to the opening track "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight". The third track on the album, "Firth of Fifth" contains one of Hackett's most celebrated, as well as one of progressive rock's most iconic, tearing guitar solos. The track has been a favourite at Genesis' live shows, even after Hackett's departure.
In 1975, Hackett became the first member of Genesis to release a solo album when he issued Voyage of the Acolyte. Assisting with the recording were Hackett's Genesis bandmates, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford. Hackett enjoyed the freedom he had when writing and recording the album, and soon became disenchanted with the democratic approach to songwriting Genesis employed.
Hackett's frustration increased as Genesis prepared to release 1977's Wind & Wuthering. Hackett was insistent that more of his material be included on the album, but was rebuffed. "Blood on the Rooftops," which Hackett wrote with Collins, made the album but was never played live, and his composition "Please Don't Touch" was rejected completely. Another song, "Inside and Out," was relegated to the Spot the Pigeon EP. Hackett remained with Genesis through the conclusion of the Wind & Wuthering tour, but announced his departure on October 8, 1977, one week before the release of the group's second live album, Seconds Out.

Reunions
Since Hackett's departure, the early '70s lineup of Genesis has reunited on a handful of occasions. On October 2, 1982, the group gathered for a one-off performance entitled "Six of the Best". The show was held to raise money for Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival. This was the first and last time this lineup had performed since 1975.
In 1998, the group gathered for a photo session and dinner to celebrate the release of the box set, Genesis Archive 1967-75. Hackett also participated in the re-recording of 1974's "The Carpet Crawlers" for inclusion on the 1999 Genesis greatest hits album, Turn It on Again: The Hits. The rest of the group recorded new parts as well, although they were not recorded together in the same studio.
In an April 2006 radio interview, Phil Collins discussed a band meeting that took place in November 2005. During that meeting, the group discussed the possibility of reuniting the classic mid-'70s roster for a limited run of shows, including a complete performance of the group's 1974 double album, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.[8] However, on October 18, 2006 it was announced that the post-Hackett lineup of Rutherford, Banks, and Collins were instead reforming.

Solo career
Hackett's first post-Genesis album was Please Don't Touch, released in 1978. As with Voyage of the Acolyte, much of the material on the album was in the style of progressive rock. It did contain, however, much more vocal work. Hackett, who had never sung lead on a Genesis song, turned over most of the vocals to a number of singers, including folk singer Richie Havens, R&B singer Randy Crawford, and Steve Walsh of Kansas. He did provide lead vocals for "Carry on Up the Vicarage," but they were processed using a "laughing gnome" vocal effect.[10] The album peaked at #38 on the UK charts and #103 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart in the United States.
A pair of progressive rock albums followed—1979's Spectral Mornings and 1980's Defector. They were both Top 40 albums in the UK, while they charted #138 and #144 in the United States, respectively. Hackett toured Europe for the first time as a solo act in 1979, and in August performed at the Reading Festival. The Defector tour brought him to the United States for the first time since his last tour with Genesis.
Hackett's first major shift in musical style came with 1981's Cured. Although the album contained some of the progressive and classical pieces for which Hackett was known, it also showcased a much more pop approach. The album was recorded without most of the musicians who had been on Hackett's solo albums since Spectral Mornings (Hackett handled all lead vocal duties). Only longtime collaborators Nick Magnus and John Hackett remained. While Cured did not chart highly in the U.S., it peaked at #15 in the UK, Hackett's highest charting yet.
In the 1980s, Hackett released his first classical guitar albums Bay of Kings and Momentum, which further enhanced his reputation. The tour for Momentum drew large crowds in Europe, considered unusual for a classical guitarist.
On the rock production side, Hackett's work in the 1980s involve the LPs Cured (1981), Highly Strung (1982) and Till We Have Faces (1984). In Highly Strung, more than a nuance of electronic sound appears, making the album unique and unrepeated in Hackett's production, and surely one of the most difficult to approach. Till We Have Faces merges Hackett style sounds with Brazilian percussion.
In 1986, Hackett formed the supergroup GTR with then-former Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe, and produced by Yes/Asia keyboardist Geoff Downes. The group released a gold-selling album. Hackett later left over financial and management squabbles. As well as Howe and Downes, Hackett has also worked with Yes drummer Bill Bruford in Genesis, Yes bassist Chris Squire (Chris Squire's Swiss Choir, 2007) and briefly Yes vocalist Trevor Horn (who produced the 1999 reunion version of "The Carpet Crawlers"). Hackett's long-time keyboadist, Julian Colbeck, played live with Yes spin-off Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe.
Hackett's solo career continued, releasing a plethora of both electric and acoustic based albums throughout the 90s to the present day. One of his most memorable recordings was the neo-classical influenced A Midsummer Night's Dream, which showcases his guitar skills, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Steve's younger brother John was involved as flute player and second guitarist in his 1970s bands, and has often appeared as musician and collaborator on his more recent work, particularly on Sketches of Satie (2000), arranged for flute and guitar.
Hackett is married to Brazilian painter and jewellery artist Kim Poor, who paints most of his album cove

All About Eve

All About Eve is a British rock/pop band. The creative core consists of Coventry-born Julianne Regan (vocals) and Andy Cousin (bass guitar), with other members changing over the years.

History
Julianne Regan, a former journalist, played bass in an early line-up of Gothic rock group Gene Loves Jezebel before leaving to join All About Eve, previously known as the Swarm. The initial core of All About Eve was Regan, guitarist Tim Bricheno, and bassist Andy Cousin from Aemotti Crii. As a three-piece (plus a drum machine), they released a series of independent singles in the mid 1980s including "D For Desire", "In The Clouds" and "Flowers In Our Hair". After Julianne sang backing vocals for The Mission's Gods Own Medicine album, the band received greater attention and were signed to Phonogram. Drummer Mark Price was added around this time.

Debut and Other Stories; chart success
Their self-titled debut album was produced by Paul Samwell-Smith and released in 1988, it produced the UK hit single "Martha's Harbour".
The album itself reached #7 on the United Kingdom album charts, with much of its lyrical material drawing from hippie ideals, white magic and dreamlike fairy tales, the album's gentle folk rock-inspired pop sound won the band many fans (nicknamed "angels"). Their music is sometimes considered gothic rock by the media, some fans claim the band did not play gothic rock after 1986, though are connected mostly due to the engagements of the band members in the musical scene of the time who had left All About Eve.
In a well known incident, the band later performed a dubbed version of "Martha's Harbour" on the BBC1 television show Top Of The Pops, but, owing to a studio technical error, the taped vocals were broadcast without the band being able to hear them, resulting in the TV audience hearing the recorded version of the song, while the band members sat motionless on screen waiting for their cue to begin. By way of compensation the band were invited back on to the show the following week, and this time their performance passed off smoothly.
The following year, their second album Scarlet and Other Stories was released, and the band toured around the UK, it was another top 10 hit for the band. Widely prevalent on this album were Regan's somber, highly melancholic moods. Painful chance encounters with love also appeared on the lyrical front, and it is this motif (and period of time) which was to greatly paint the picture for the future of the band as well.

Activity through the 1990s
In 1990, Bricheno left the group (later to join The Sisters of Mercy for their Vision Thing era, and subsequent bands XC-NN and Tin Star) to be swiftly replaced by The Church's Marty Willson-Piper. They went on to record Touched By Jesus in 1991 (which featured David Gilmour of Pink Floyd on guitar on two tracks), before changing record companies and taking a dramatic stylistic change by releasing Ultraviolet the year after.
Going an altogether different way to their previous release, Ultraviolet mellowed the band's sound greatly, revisiting Scarlet's general sorrowful feel with a heavy inspiration from the shoegazing movement and psychedelia to turn the Eve signature sound ever colder, with much downplayed vocals. The album, released by MCA Records was not well supported by the record company, considering the change to be for the worse, and the band subsequently went their separate ways. MCA, shedding no tears, promptly deleted the album from their catalogue. Although the band continued for a couple more months without Regan's input, they disbanded in early 1993, with the album they had been working on at the time eventually seeing the light of day under the group name Seeing Stars.
Regan went on to form Mice and to work with Bernard Butler, but an album with the latter never came to fruition due to personality clashes. Though often quoted that Julianne thought Butler to be "Satan", this quote is in fact not true. Later on, she also teamed up with her old Gene Loves Jezebel acquaintance Jean-Marc Lederman in the highly atmospheric Jules et Jim project (a collaboration which continues to this day).
At the end of the 1990s, old friends The Mission reformed after a short break and started touring. They invited Regan to open for them, and their offer was accepted, starting the second era of the band. Soon after the tour the newly-reformed (Regan, Willson-Piper & Cousin) All About Eve toured for two years, releasing Fairy Light Nights, an acoustic live collection in 2000, with Volume 2 following in 2001, and later followed by two more live albums Live And Electric At The Union Chapel and Cinemasonic (the latter of which was also released as a DVD). A collection of early recordings was also released, entitled Return To Eden, Volume 1 (no second volume has yet appeared).
In 2002, Willson-Piper left the band to pursue other projects, to be replaced by new guitarist Toni Haimi, previously of the band Malluka and now in the Sohodolls. Also in 2002, Julianne and Andy released their first studio recordings in a decade, with the EP Iceland – a collection of "winter songs", including reworkings of previous fan-favourite "December" and cover versions of Wham!'s "Last Christmas", Queen's "A Winter's Tale", and a minimalist electronic take on the popular song from the animated short The Snowman, "Walking in the Air".

Recent times
In mid-2004, just after the release of their first single in a decade, "Let Me Go Home", the band split once again. Regan is currently working on projects including an album with Jean-Marc Lederman (in a follow-up to the first Jules et Jim album), as well as collaborating once again with Tim Bricheno. The nearly-completed All About Eve studio album that was being worked-on remains unreleased, although Regan and Cousin once indicated that they may eventually finish the recordings sometime in the future.
A double CD collection entitled Keepsakes, consisting of the singles, key album tracks and previously unreleased rarities, as well as some newly recorded songs, was released early March 2006, and was initially available with a DVD of the promo videos and TV appearances. Planned re-issues of the first four albums, along with some previously un-released bonus tracks, was due out in February 2008; however the record company has since decided that no release date for these is likely in the foreseeable future.

are a Southern rock band from Macon, Georgia, named after Western legend Doc Holliday.
Their debut album of the same name entered the top 30 Billboard charts in 1981. Their second album "Doc Holliday rides again" topped that success. The band played many shows in that time, with Black Sabbath and others. Due to the failure of their third, experimental album in 1983 and the stress of touring, the band broke up in 1983.
They re-united in the 1990s. Since, they brought out more albums, and toured, mainly in Europe.

was a progressive jazz-rock band formed in England in 1970 consisting of Mike Patto (born Michael Thomas Sean Patrick McCarthy, 22 September 1942, in Cirencester,Gloucestershire died 4 March 1979) on vocals, John Halsey (born 23 February 1945, in Highgate, North London (ex Barry Reed and the Avengers, Felder's Orioles) on drums, Ollie Halsall (born Peter John Halsall, 14 March 1949, in Southport Lancashire died 29 May 1992, in Madrid, Spain) on guitars and vibes, and Clive Griffiths (born 16 May 1945, in Middlewich, Cheshire) on bass. All ex Timebox.

History

Timebox was a '60's outfit that developed from a complicaded ancestry that included The Bo Street Runners, Patto's People, and the Chicago Blue Line. This soul/psych-pop combo made two singles for Pye's Piccadilly, before signing to Decca's Deram label in 1967. They also recorded five singles for Deram between '67 and '69 and appeared on BBC shows such as Noise at Nine, Stuart Henry on Sunday and Jimmy Young. After their last single failed in '69, keyboard player Chris Holmes (born Christopher Noel Holmes, 12 September 1945, in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire) left and they decided that their future lay in the burgeoning progressive rock movement.
In 1970 Patto was formed out of the remaining ex-members of Timebox and was signed to the newly formed Vertigo label. With Muff Winwood as producer they recorded their first album live in studio. This was because Winwood felt this best way to capture the raw virtuosity of Halsall's guitar playing and Mike Patto's soulful voice. The album "Patto" sold poorly and is still considered an underrated classic today.
In December 1971 Patto entered the studio again to record their second album "Hold Your Fire". Again the sales were poor and they were dropped from Vertigo. This did not hinder the fact that they were becoming known as one of the most exciting live acts of their time.
Through his connections in England Muff Winwood was able to get the band signed to Island Records where they recorded the album "Roll 'em Smoke 'em Put Another Line Out". To their dismay this album also sold poorly.

In 1973 the band began to record their next album. For this album Mike Patto wanted to use more of his material which was less cynical than the usual Patto songs and much more commercial. For whatever reason Halsall failed to put much effort into his playing on tracks that he didn't take part in writing and when asked about this he left the band. The album that was called Monkey's Bum was also rejected by Island Records. Without their virtuoso guitarist Patto chose to call it quits with each member moving on to other projects.

Foreigner is a rock band formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran musicians Mick Jones and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with then-unknown vocalist Lou Gramm (Louis Grammatico). Foreigner has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide (including over 36 million in the United States alone).

Band history
The band is led by British journeyman rocker Mick Jones (former member of Nero and the Gladiators, Spooky Tooth, and The Leslie West Band) who in early 1976 met with ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald in NYC and formed Foreigner with Lou Gramm(ex-Black Sheep), Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi as a sextet. Jones came up with the name from the fact that he, McDonald, and Elliott were British, while Gramm, Greenwood, and Gagliardi were Americans.

The band's debut album Foreigner was released in March 1977 and sold more than four million copies in the United States, staying in the Top 20 for a year with such hits as "Feels Like the First Time", "Cold as Ice", and "Long Long Way From Home". Their second album, Double Vision (released in June 1978), topped their previous selling five million records and spawned "Hot Blooded", the title track "Double Vision" and "Blue Morning Blue Day. Their third album, Head Games, which was referred to by Gramm as their "grainiest" album, was also successful due to the thunderous "Dirty White Boy" and another title track hit "Head Games".
For 1979's Head Games, bassist Ed Gagliardi was replaced by Englishman Rick Wills. In September 1980, keyboardist Al Greenwood and co-founder Ian McDonald were sacked as Jones wished to have more control over the band and write most the music(along with Gramm). The band was now stripped down to a quartet, with session players brought in as needed to record or tour(see below). Greenwood soon joined Gagliardi to form the AOR band SPYS with John Blanco, Billy Milne, and John DiGaudio. The band released two albums, a self-titled debut, and the follow-up "Behind Enemy Lines."
In the meantime, Foreigner's next album, aptly named 4,(released in July 1981) was the band's biggest hit containing "Urgent", "Waiting for a Girl Like You", "Juke Box Hero", and "Break it Up". Before releasing albums of his own, Thomas Dolby played synthesizers on 4 (he contributed the signature synth sound on "Urgent" and played the atmospheric intro to "Waiting For A Girl Like You").

Their next album, Agent Provocateur, was released successfully in late 1984, and gave them their first and only #1 hit in 1985 (in U.S., UK, Australia, Norway, Sweden, etc.), "I Want to Know What Love Is", a gospel-inspired ballad backed by the New Jersey Mass Choir. "That Was Yesterday" was the next single released from the album in early 1985 and proved to be another sizable hit. In late 1987 Foreigner released Inside Information; spawning hits such as "Say You Will" and "I Don't Want To Live Without You". In the late 1980s, Jones and Gramm each put out solo efforts and Gramm decided to leave the group in 1990.
In 1990, Mick Jones brought in a new lead vocalist, Johnny Edwards (formerly of the bands Montrose, King Kobra, Buster Brown and Wild Horses). This edition of Foreigner released the album Unusual Heat in the summer of 1991. This was at the time their worst selling album and only climbed as high as #117 on the Billboard 200, although "Lowdown and Dirty" was a minor mainstream rock hit, reaching #4 on that chart. Just after the start of the Unusual Heat tour, Elliott decided to leave the group. Larry Aberman was then recruited as a temporary replacement. Since 1992 several other drummers have come & gone, including Mark Schulman, Ron Wikso, Brian Tichy and Denny Carmassi. Jason Bonham is the current drummer.
By 1992 Lou Gramm rejoined Foreigner (bringing along with his Shadow King bandmate bassist Bruce Turgon) and produced the band's second greatest hits album, The Very Best of...and Beyond, which included three new songs. Three years later Foreigner released what was supposed to be the band's comeback album, Mr. Moonlight. This album fared even worse than Unusual Heat, due to the rising popularity of alternative and grunge rock, although the ballad "Until the End of Time" was a minor hit, hitting #42 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was to be the last time to date that Foreigner charted on a Billboard singles chart of any kind.
In 1997 Gramm underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. Unfortunately, the medications he was to take to help with the recovery caused considerable weight gain and affected his singing voice. It has been a long road back but there is improvement with each passing year.
In 2001, the Warner Music Group selected Foreigner and 4 to be among the first group of albums from their catalog to be remastered, enhanced and released in the new DVD Audio format. In 2002, the 25th Anniversary Year brought affirmation of the enduring respect for Foreigner recordings with Rhino Entertainment re-issuing the 1977 - 1981 multi-platinum albums in special enhanced formats. Foreigner, Double Vision, Head Games and 4 received the attention of Rhino's staff with new photos, liner notes and bonus tracks of previously unreleased material. New greatest hits albums were also produced in the U.S. and in Europe. The U.S. version reached #80 on the Billboard 200 Album chart.
In the fall of 2002, Foreigner played in the Netherlands at the annual Night of the Proms festival. It was the last time to date that Gramm & Jones have played together as musical disagreements at that point caused Gramm to leave again by early 2003 to embark on another solo career.
L o u G r a m m

Jones, the founder and only remaining original member of Foreigner, decided to take some time off before looking to form a new lineup in 2004. On July 25, 2004 in Santa Barbara, California at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort, Jones appeared with a brand new version of Foreigner that included: Jeff Jacobs, Thom Gimbel, former Dokken bass player Jeff Pilson, current UFO drummer Jason Bonham (son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who'd also played with the brief Led Zeppelin reunions and his own band Bonham) and Bonham singer, Chaz West. West was hired for that show only and was eventually replaced by former Hurricane singer Kelly Hansen. (For all the band's changes in personnel from beginning to now, see below)
Foreigner joined Def Leppard along with Styx on tour in 2007. They also toured extensively in their own right in 2007 - the 30th anniversary of the founding of the band.
Their most recent album, Extended Versions, featured the new line-up playing all their classic hits live in concert in one of the most "studio like, clean sounding" live album recordings produced. They are currently working on a new album which will include a mix of both new songs as well as new takes on their old material.

In September 2007 it was announced that Foreigner would join Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, and Paolo Nutini as openers for the one-night-only Led Zeppelin reunion show in memory of Atlantic Records' Ahmet Ertegun. The show took place on December 10, 2007, in London, England, having been postponed by 2 weeks due to Jimmy Page fracturing a finger.
The band currently has a new greatest hits anthology coming July 15th, titled No End in Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner. The anthology will include all of their greatest hits plus some new live recordings and a new studio track, "Too Late", which will be the first new track since 1994's Mr. Moonlight (which was their last album with Lou Gramm) and the first recorded output of the new lineup. In June 2008, Billboard singles editor Chuck Taylor wrote about "Too Late": It was 32 years ago that Foreigner scored first top five "Feels Like the First Time." Twenty-four hits and 70 million albums later, the band returns July 15 with Rhino double-disc "No End in Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner." Among the 32 songs are four new tracks, including single "Too Late"—the band's potential first-charting release since 2000. Guitar-gustful, percussion-soaked "Too Late," with vocals from Lou Gramm sound-alike lead Kelly Hansen, forges persuasive rock production from Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard) with a pop hook courtesy of co-writer Oliver Lieber (who made Paula Abdul a star). The combo of rock cred and singalong melodic mastery —with a decidedly playful instrumental template —gives Foreigner potential to pen a millennial chapter. Look for the act on tour all summer, co-headlining with Bryan Adams. That song "Too Late" has now been released (as of June 17, 2008)

Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1973, which has sold more than 100 million albums.
The band has gone through several phases since its inception by former members of Santana. The band's greatest commercial success came in the late 1970s through the early 1980s with a series of power ballads and songs such as "Don't Stop Believing", "Any Way You Want It", "Faithfully", "Open Arms", "Separate Ways", and "Wheel in the Sky."
Journey has been eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 2000, but Gregg Rolie is currently the only member of Journey who has been inducted--as a member of parent band Santana. In 2009, Steve Perry, the band's best-known lead vocalist, will be eligible for induction as a solo artist.

History

Formation, 1973-1976
The original members of Journey came together in San Francisco in 1973 under the auspices of former Santana manager Herbie Herbert. Originally called the Golden Gate Rhythm Section and intended to serve as a backup group for established Bay Area artists, the band included recent Santana alumni Neal Schon on lead guitar and Gregg Rolie on keyboards and lead vocals. Drummer Prairie Prince of The Tubes, bassist Ross Valory and rhythm guitarist George Tickner, both of Frumious Bandersnatch, rounded out the group. The band quickly abandoned the original "backup group" concept and developed a distinctive jazz-fusion style. After an unsuccessful radio contest to name the group, roadie Jack Vilanueva suggested the name "Journey." The band's first public appearance came at the Winterland Ballroom on New Year’s Eve, 1973. Prairie Prince rejoined The Tubes shortly thereafter, and the band hired British drummer Aynsley Dunbar, who had recently worked with John Lennon and Frank Zappa. On February 5, 1974, the new line-up made their debut at the Great American Music Hall and secured a recording contract with Columbia Records.
Journey released their eponymous first album in 1975, and rhythm guitarist Tickner left the band before they cut their second album, Look into the Future (1976). Neither album achieved significant sales, so Schon, Valory, and Dunbar took singing lessons in an attempt to add vocal harmonies to Rolie's lead. The following year's Next contained shorter tracks with more vocals and featured Schon as lead singer on several of the songs.

New musical direction, 1977-1980
Journey's album sales did not improve and Columbia Records requested that they change their musical style and add a frontman, with whom keyboardist Gregg Rolie could share lead vocal duties. The band hired Robert Fleischman and transitioned to a more popular style, akin to that of Foreigner and Boston. Journey went on tour with Fleischman in 1977 and together the new incarnation of the band wrote the hit "Wheel in the Sky." But fans were lukewarm to the change, and personality differences resulted in Fleischman's being fired within the year in the fall of 1977, Journey hired Steve Perry as their new lead singer. Perry added a clean, tenor sound and the band became a true pop act. Their fourth album, Infinity (1978) reached No. 21 on the album charts and gave the band their first RIAA-certified platinum album plus hit singles out of "Lights" and "Wheel In the Sky"."
Drummer Aynsley Dunbar did not get along with singer Steve Perry and did not approve of the new musical direction.He was fired in 1978 and replaced by Berklee-trained jazz drummer Steve Smith. Perry, Schon, Rolie, Smith, and bass player Ross Valory recorded 1979's Evolution, which gave the band their first Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 single, "Lovin,' Touchin,' Squeezin;'" and 1980's Departure, which reached No. 8 on the album charts and included the top-25 "Any Way You Want It."
Journey's newfound success brought the band an almost entirely new fan base. During the 1980 Departure world tour, the band recorded a live album, Captured, and recorded the soundtrack to the film Dream After Dream while in Japan.
Exhausted from extensive touring, keyboardist Gregg Rolie now left a successful band for the second time in his career. Rolie recommended pianist Jonathan Cain of The Babys as his replacement. With Cain's replacement of Rolie's Hammond B-3 organ with his own synthesizers, the band was poised to redefine rock music for a new decade in which they would achieve their greatest musical success.

Height of popularity, 1981-1983
Journey released their eighth and biggest-selling studio album, Escape, in 1981. The album, which would ultimately sell nine times platinum, went to number one on the album charts that year, and included three top-ten hits: "Who's Crying Now," "Don't Stop Believing," and "Open Arms."[10]
Capitalizing on their success, the band recorded radio commercials for Budweiser and sold rights to their likenesses and music for use in two video games: the Journey arcade game by Bally/Midway and Journey Escape by Data Age for the Atari 2600.
This success was met with piqued criticism. The 1983 Rolling Stone Record Guide gave each of the band's albums only one star, with Dave Marsh writing that "Journey was a dead end for San Francisco area rock." Marsh later would anoint Escape as one of the worst number-one albums of all time.
Journey's next album, 1983's Frontiers, continued their commercial success, reaching No. 2 on the album charts. Four hit singles included "Separate Ways," which reached #8, and "Faithfully," which reached #12. During the subsequent tour, the band contracted with NFL Films to record a video documentary of their life on the road, Frontiers and Beyond.

Break-up, 1984-1994
Lead singer Steve Perry and guitarist Neal Schon both pursued solo projects between 1982 and 1985, and when they returned to Journey to record their 1986 album Raised on Radio, bass player Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith were fired from the band for musical and professional differences. Studio musicians handled the two vacant slots, including future American Idol judge Randy Jackson and established session player Larrie Londin. The album sold two million copies. A truncated tour followed, which featured Jackson on bass and Mike Baird on drums. Steve Perry left Journey in 1987.
Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain teamed up with Cain's ex-Babys bandmates John Waite and Ricky Phillips, forming Bad English with drummer Deen Castronovo in 1988. Steve Smith started a jazz band, Vital Information, and teamed up with Ross Valory and Gregg Rolie to create The Storm with singer Kevin Chalfant and guitarist Josh Ramos.

Reunion, 1995-1997
Between 1987 and 1995, Journey's record label released three compilations. In 1993, Kevin Chalfant (of The Storm) performed with members of Journey on a few shows, and Schon, Cain, Valory, Smith and Rolie briefly considered reuniting the band with Chalfant as lead singer.[citation needed] In 1995 Steve Perry agreed to rejoin the band on the condition that they seek new management. Herbie Herbert was fired and The Eagles Manager Irving Azoff retained.[citation needed]
In 1995, Perry, Schon, Cain, Valory, and Smith reunited to record Trial by Fire. Released in 1996, the album included the hit single "When You Love a Woman," which reached #12 on the Billboard charts and was nominated in 1997 for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.Plans for a subsequent tour ended when Perry injured his hip hiking in Hawaii, and could not perform without hip replacement surgery — which he refused to undergo. In 1998, Schon and Cain decided to seek a new lead singer, at which point drummer Steve Smith left the band as well.

Lead singer replaced, 1998-2006
In 1998, Journey hired drummer Deen Castronovo, Schon's and Cain's Bad English bandmate, and drummer for Hardline, to replace Steve Smith. The lead vocalist position was filled by Steve Augeri, formerly of Tyketto and Tall Stories.
In 1998, Journey with Steve Augeri and Deen Castronovo recorded a track for the soundtrack to the movie Armageddon called "Remember Me." The band released their next studio album, Arrival, in Japan in late 2000 and in the United States in 2001. "All the Way" became a minor adult contemporary hit from the album. In 2002, the band released a four-track CD titled "Red 13," with an album cover design chosen through a fan contest. In 2005 the band was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, embarked on their 30th anniversary tour, and released their twelfth full-length studio album, Generations, in which each band member performed lead vocals on at least one song.

Lead singer replaced again, 2006-Present
In July 2006, Steve Augeri succumbed to a throat infection, and Journey briefly used pre-recorded vocal tracks on tour. The band hired singer Jeff Scott Soto from Talisman to fill in, and Soto officially replaced Augeri as Journey's lead singer in December 2006. On June 12, 2007, Journey announced that Soto was no longer the lead singer, and said that they were looking to move in a new direction.
In December 2007, after briefly considering the lead singer of a Virginia-based tribute band, Journey hired Filipino singer Arnel Pineda of the cover band The Zoo after Neal Schon saw him on YouTube singing covers of Journey songs. Journey debuted their new lead singer in February 2008 in Chile, released the album Revelation, and announced a summer tour with Heart and Cheap Trick. Revelation debuted at #5 on the Billboard charts, selling more than 196,000 units in its first two weeks, making it the band's best selling album since Trial by Fire.
Although Pineda was not the first foreign national to become a member of Journey (former drummer Aynsley Dunbar is British) nor even the first non-white (former bass player Randy Jackson is African-American), the transition was difficult for a number of fans who expressed what Marin Independent Journal writer Paul Liberatore called "an undercurrent of racism." Keyboardist Jonathan Cain responded to such sentiments: "We've become a world band. We're international now. We're not about one color."

Danzig is an American heavy metal band that fuses dark lyrics and imagery with blues-rock influences. The band serves as a musical outlet for singer/composer Glenn Danzig. The band can be seen as the third stage in Glenn Danzig's musical career, preceded by the horror punk bands Misfits and Samhain.

HISTORY :
1986-1987

On July 14, 1986, Samhain performed what was to be their final show, at The Ritz in New York City. In attendance was Rick Rubin, who was scouting for potential bands to sign to his record label, Def Jam.

Upon viewing Samhain's performance, Rubin was impressed with Glenn Danzig's powerful stage persona and vocal abilities. He approached him after the show and propositioned him. At first, he wished only to sign Danzig, with the intent of making him the vocalist for a hard rock supergroup that Rubin envisioned. However, Danzig refused to sign to Rubin's label without Samhain's bassist, Eerie Von, with whom Danzig had become great friends. Rubin agreed to sign Samhain, and he began making suggestions for the new direction he felt the band should take. Rubin felt the music should be stripped down, and that Danzig's vocal talents should become the focal point for the band.

In 1987, the band evolved into a solid hard rock act, with the addition of John Christ on guitar and Chuck Biscuits (ex-Black Flag) on drums. To reflect the change in musical direction, and to avoid having to ever start anew in the event of future lineup changes, Danzig decided to change the name of Samhain to his own surname, Danzig.

1987-1994

Having formed and begun recording as Danzig the previous year, in 1988 the band released its eponymous first album on Rick Rubin's newly formed label Def American (later renamed to American Recordings). The album featured polished production by Rubin, with heavy, blues-based guitar riffs and Danzig's powerful and melodic vocal performance -- a harsh contrast to the gritty, raw-sounding production of Samhain's albums.
In 1990, Danzig released their second album, Danzig II: Lucifuge, the band's most diverse LP. Here the music continued to blur the lines between classic blues and hard rock.

By 1992, Rubin's involvement with the band had waned and Danzig himself took credit for co-producing the third album, Danzig III: How the Gods Kill. The following year the band released the Thrall: Demonsweatlive EP, which contained several live tracks from the band's 1992 Halloween show, as well as three new studio tracks. The EP provided a hit for the band when the live version of "Mother" (a song from the first Danzig album) became popular on hard rock radio stations. A new version of the "Mother" music video was created using live footage, and the video became a hit on MTV as well, pushing Danzig into the mainstream.

With Danzig in the spotlight, controversy surrounding the nature of Glenn Danzig's lyrics and imagery increased. Conservative Christian groups accused Danzig of being a Satanist; Danzig dismissed their characterization in his official response through his publicist: "We welcome their disdain". Danzig has repeatedly denied accusations of being a Satanist, saying that while he is spiritual, he rejects all religions, especially organized religion, but is fascinated by the nature of evil and merely finds Satan to be an interesting figure in Christian theology.[citation needed]
In October 1993, the band entered the studio to record their fourth studio album. Danzig says that he was pressured by executives at his record label to record songs with the commercial appeal of "another 'Mother'", but that he was determined not to backtrack in his musical progression. He also says that Rick Rubin had become increasingly distant from the band and had little involvement in the recording of the fourth album, which Glenn Danzig alone is credited as having produced. On October 4, 1994 Danzig 4 was released, a more atmospheric and experimental album than the band's previous releases, reintroducing elements of production that Danzig had not much used since the Samhain era.

While the album sold well, it did not contain a hit on par with the "Mother" single. The album's second single, "Cantspeak", was also a staple in MTV's rotation (even making the Buzz Bin), and it charted on the rock charts, although (unlike "Mother") it failed to appear on the Hot 100. "Cantspeak" is the band's only single other than "Mother" to chart on Billboard, thus making the band a two-hit wonder of the mainstream scene. Amid accusations of unpaid royalties and broken promises, Danzig's relationship with Rubin deteriorated, and the band left the record label.
Around this time, the band's lineup began to dissolve as well. First, Chuck Biscuits left the band in the summer of 1994 due to royalty disagreements. After he was rejected upon asking to return, he was replaced by Joey Castillo, who made his first public appearance as a member of Danzig at an in-store signing the day of the fourth album's release. Though the band had toured successfully with its new drummer during the fall and winter of 1994-95, by the spring of 1995 Danzig was actively seeking a new guitarist. John Christ learned of this, and, never content with his role and relative lack of input in the band, resigned his position on 5 July 1995, all offices having been closed the previous day for the Independence Day holiday. Coincidentally, Eerie Von resigned the very same day, ending what is often called the "classic era" of the band. Glenn Danzig has since contended that it was always his intention to have a revolving line-up, but it just so happened that the original lineup worked well and remained intact for much longer than he had expected. Since the end of the classic era, each Danzig album has featured a different band lineup.

1995-1999

In 1996, Danzig 5: Blackacidevil was released, surprising many with its heavy emphasis on industrial rock. Danzig has stated that Rick Rubin had been keeping him from experimenting with electronics on earlier Danzig releases, and so with the fifth album, he was eager to indulge in industrial sounds unimpeded. The album was mostly a solo effort by Danzig, although Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains played lead guitar on three of the album's tracks, and drum duties were handled by Joey Castillo, the sole member still in the band from the 4P Tour (Joey would go on to record on two more Danzig albums, making him the longest-standing member outside of the original lineup). In online polls the album is often listed as fans' least favorite by Danzig, presumably due to the drastic departure from the sound of the first four releases. Additionally, while Danzig's vocals had always been a highlight of the band, on most songs on Blackacidevil his voice is heavily distorted or buried under layers of effects. Other fans embraced the album, and saw it as Danzig returning to the more experimental style of Samhain.

The next couple years saw Danzig tied up in a legal battle with Rick Rubin over the rights to the unreleased material the band produced under American Recordings. After winning back the rights, Danzig entered the studio to record the sixth full-length album. In November 1999, Danzig 6:66 Satan's Child was released, with mixed reactions from fans and critics. It featured dark and heavy hard rock accented by mild electronics, with Danzig singing in an uncharacteristic, harsh, whispery tone on many songs. Some critics and fans have described the sound of the album as being similar to nu metal, a genre of heavy music that Danzig is well known to detest. This comparison is often attributed to its production by Jay Gordon and Amir Derakh of the electropop/nu metal band, Orgy.

Since 2000

By 2000, Danzig's line up had stabilized with the addition of guitarist Todd Youth and bassist Howie Pyro, both veterans of the New York City punk scene. In 2002, this line up released the album Danzig 777: I Luciferi. The album was devoid of electronics and contained some of the darkest and heaviest songs of Danzig's career. Some of the later tracks on I Luciferi hearkened back to the classic sound of the band, and many fans heralded it as a return to form, although some were disappointed with the album's production quality.

In 2004, Danzig released their eighth studio album, Circle of Snakes, which, along with the previous album, many fans view as the singer's best work since the classic era of the band. On Circle of Snakes the line up was again re-written and now featured Tommy Victor of Prong on guitar; Victor had toured as a member of Danzig years earlier, but had never before recorded an album with the band. The sound evolved again, and here Tommy Victor’s guitar seemed to be the dominant force on each song, to the point that some critics felt the drums and vocals had become buried under the weight of multiple guitar tracks.

Soon after the album's release, Danzig then set out headlining the Blackest of the Black tour across the United States, replacing Circle of Snakes drummer Bevan Davies with Johnny Kelly (of Type O Negative). "The Blackest of the Black" was meant to be a yearly package set up by Glenn Danzig as a way to help some of his favorite dark underground bands gain more exposure, while providing fans of heavy music an alternative to Ozzfest, which Danzig felt had become over saturated with commercialized nu metal acts. During the 2005 Blackest of the Black dates, halfway through the Danzig set, the band was joined by Doyle, the Misfits most celebrated guitarist, for a set of classic Misfits songs. These shows were the first time Danzig had played with Doyle in over twenty years, and many of these shows were sold out.

Throughout 2006, Glenn Danzig stated in several interviews that he had grown tired of the touring cycle, and did not expect to partake in any more large scale tours. Instead, Danzig would go on small, localized tours, such as the ten west coast dates they played for the 2006 Blackest of the Black tour. This tour debuted Kenny Hickey (of Type O Negative) as the band's new guitarists, while the East Coast dates saw the addition of former Samhain member, Steve Zing on bass. Danzig said he would use his downtime from touring to complete his various unfinished projects, and focus more attention on his other interests, such as writing and directing films.
In October of 2006, he released Black Aria II, the follow-up to his solo classical album, Black Aria. He spent the rest of the year completing the production and packaging of The Lost Tracks of Danzig, a double CD containing twenty-six unreleased songs that span the entire Danzig catalog, which was released on July 10, 2007. Danzig has also stated that he plans to record a dark blues album with either Jerry Cantrell or Hank Williams III. In May 2007, Evilive re-released Danzig's original classical effort Black Aria.

Coco Montoya (b. Henry Montoya, 1951 in Santa Monica, CA) is a blues guitarist and former member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.

Musical career
Montoya's career began in the mid-70s when Albert Collins asked him to join his band as drummer. Collins took Montoya under his wing and taught him his "icy hot" guitar style. The two remained friends even after Montoya left Collins' band.
In the early 80s John Mayall heard Montoya playing guitar in a Los Angeles bar. Soon after Mayall asked Montoya to join the newly reformed Bluesbreakers. He remained a member of the band for 10 years.
In the early 90s Montoya decided it was time to go out on his own. He has recorded several highly acclaimed blues CDs.
In 1995 he appeared with the Cate Brothers for the resumption of their recording career on their release, Radioland. In 2002, he featured on the Bo Diddley tribute album Hey Bo Diddley - A Tribute!, performing the song "Pills".

Instruments
Montoya is left-handed but plays "upside-down right-handed" guitar. In other words he can play a guitar strung for right-handed playing, with bass strings at the upper edge of the fretboard and treble strings at the lower edge, rotating the guitar so he stops the strings with his right-hand and picks them with his left hand. Thus for him the treble strings are at the upper edge, and the bass strings are at the lower edge. This contrasts with the style of fellow left-handers Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi, amongst others, whose guitars are re-strung for left-handers.
Most current pictures of Montoya playing show him with a guitar such as a Fender Stratocaster, with a left-handed body (a mirror image of the right-handed body), a neck and headstock typical of a right-handed Stratocaster, so the tuners are on the bottom edge for him, and the strings arranged "upside-down" relative to the left-handed body.
The title of his album "Ya think I'd know better" may be an ironic reference to his eccentric instrument preferences.

Sardinas, Eric

Eric Sardinas is an American blues-rock guitarist born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1970. He is noted for his use of the electric resonator guitar, his powerful live performances and is known to set alight his guitar on stage. During shows in 2000 in Sydney, Sardinas suffered third degree burns to his left wrist.
Sardinas began to play the guitar at age six and leaned toward vintage recordings by such Delta bluesmen as Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Big Bill Broonzy, Elmore James and Muddy Waters. Although he was left-handed, he eventually started to play right-handed and his impressive style may be due to this fact. "The rawest, most emotional music is what sparked my excitement for the blues," Eric says. "I still listen to music from the 20s and 30s on a daily basis. That's where it all began."

In 2002, he featured on the Bo Diddley tribute album Hey Bo Diddley - A Tribute!, performing the song "Ride On Josephine".

He is currently signed to Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label and was the opening act for Vai's The Real Illusions Tour 2005 around the world.

On February 19th, 2008 Eric Sardinas releases his latest CD "Eric Sardinas and Big Motor" on Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label in the U.S.. The CD is released in Canada on April 1st, followed by an international release on April 28th. The release is supported by a 2008 tour, starting in the U.S. before going to Europe.

Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish American celtic punk band that formed in Los Angeles, California and is currently signed to SideOneDummy Records.

Early years
Prior to forming Flogging Molly, Dave King was the vocalist for Fastway, a late 1980s – early 1990s heavy metal band, featuring guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke of Motörhead, and later an experimental metal band called Katmandu (1991), featuring Mandy Meyer of Krokus on guitars. Afterwards, Dave King retained a record deal with Epic records and began to work on a solo album, but began to reconsider his record deal when the label opposed his idea of bringing in traditional Irish instruments. King negotiated out of his record deal to go his own way musically soon after.
In the late nineties, King met former guitarist Ted Hutt, former bassist Jeff Peters, and fiddle player Bridget Regan. They wrote songs together such as Devils Dance Floor and Black Friday Rule, which was the beginning of Flogging Molly's unique sound. Ted and Jeff left Flogging Molly because a prior band of theirs, Reach Around, received a record deal. Dave and Bridget then began to meet the new members one way or another, and band was slowly reformed, one by one.
They soon established a routine of playing every Monday night at an LA pub called Molly Malone's. According to an interview with SuicideGirls.com, then 17-year old Nathan Maxwell snuck into a show as a fan, and was later asked to join the band. They soon put out a live album, Alive Behind the Green Door in 1997. In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, King stated that the band's name comes from the bar that faithfully supported the band from the very beginning, "We used to play there every Monday night and we felt like we were flogging it to death, so we called the band Flogging Molly." They were signed onto SideOneDummy Records after a show when the record company's owners attended a concert and noted their intensity.

Career
Flogging Molly has released an independent (26f Records) live album titled Alive Behind the Green Door, as well as four studio albums, Swagger, Drunken Lullabies, Within a Mile of Home, Float, and an acoustic/live DVD/cd combo Whiskey on a Sunday. They have toured with the Warped Tour, Larry Kirwan's American Fléadh Festival and contributed to the Rock Against Bush project. They have sold in excess of a million and a half copies of recorded output as of December 6, 2006.On March 13, 2007, the band released an exclusive EP through iTunes entitled Complete Control Sessions. The EP includes two new tracks, as well as acoustic versions of previously released songs. On December 3, 2007 the band announced through an e-mail to their subscribers that their upcoming album would be called Float.
On March 4, 2008 Flogging Molly released Float, an album dubbed "One of the most important CDs of the year, if not the decade" by Alternative Press. Flogging Molly also recognized the album as influential to their career as their first album recorded in Ireland (though mixed in California) by producer Ryan Hewitt. Fans met the release with great anticipation and enthusiasm, landing it at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. This release marks the highest chart position for SideOneDummy and the irish punk genre in general. While touring to support Float in 2008, Dave King married Bridget Regan in Tokyo.

Musical style
Flogging Molly's music is influenced by bands such as The Pogues, The Dubliners, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Clash and the country twang of such legends as Johnny Cash. Dave King says the Pogues were a huge influence.
Their music ranges from boisterous Irish punk rock like the pirate-themed "Salty Dog" and "Seven Deadly Sins," or the defiant "What's Left of the Flag", "Drunken Lullabies", and "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" to more sombre songs like "Far Away Boys", "The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)", and "Float". Lyrics typically touch on subjects such as Ireland and its history, drinking, politics and love and include several references to the Roman Catholic Church.

The Four Horsemen were an American hard rock band that had brief popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their style was blues influenced heavy rock and their fame was both fleeting Formed in the late eighties by Wales-born guitarist Haggis (a.k.a. Stephen Harris), who had been a touring bassist for The Cult and member of Zodiac Mindwarp, the Four Horsemen were based out of Hollywood, California, and featured Frank Starr on vocals.

Their first release was a self titled four track EP in 1989, which generated enough interest to get them a full album record contract with Def American.
The second album, Nobody Said it Was Easy was produced by Rick Rubin, and was by far their most popular. The album produced the title track as a single and the hit "Rockin' is Ma Business.". However, the band was tied up in legal disputes with Rubin and lead singer Frank Starr also spent some time in jail on a drugs charge, the combination of which put their album on hold for nearly two years. By the time it was finally released in 1991, the music scene was just about to change with the rise of Grunge which in turn led to a rapid downturn in many of the existing hard rock acts. Just as they were getting wider recognition, their market disappeared. Business problems, another stint in jail by Frank Starr and internal fights followed, which prompted Haggis to leave the band.
In 1994, the band reconciled their differences and started to put together a third release with Pharaoh replacing Haggis on bass. But the first of two tragedies struck on September 27th 1994 when original drummer Dimwit (Ken Montgomery) died from a drug overdose. The band continued with creating the album, dedicating it to Dimwit and including the poignant ballad 'Song for Absent Friends' which is clearly influenced by his death. Dimwit's brother Chuck Biscuits took over on drums.
Then in November of 1995, lead singer Frank Starr was hit by a drunk driver while driving his motorcycle down Sunset Strip and was left in a coma suffering from severe head injuries. The band soldiered on, releasing the third album Gettin Pretty Good...At Barely Gettin' By... in 1996 on the Magnetic Air label and embarking on a tour with Ron Young of Little Caesar on vocals, hoping that Starr would come out of the coma, but he eventually died on June 18, 1999, and the band broke up.
In 2007, Haggis assembled as much archive footage of the band as he could, and released a 2 disc retrospective, Left for Dead. Disc one is a DVD featuring the promo videos from Nobody said it was Easy, plus rare interview, live performance and behind the scenes footage. Disc two is a live CD.

Molly Hatchet

Molly Hatchet is an American Southern rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1974. They are widely known for their hit song "Flirtin' with Disaster" from the album of the same title. The band, founded by Dave Hlubek and Steve Holland, took its name from a legendary Southern prostitute who supposedly mutilated and decapitated her clients.

1970s
Originating from the same city as the most well-known act in the Southern rock genre, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet shared influences and inspiration with them as well as another up-and-coming Southern Rock act, .38 Special, which featured vocalist Donnie Van Zant, who was the brother of Lynyrd Skynyrd lead vocalist, Ronnie Van Zant. Because of this, .38 Special enjoyed some influential connections in the music business, referring Molly Hatchet to manager Pat Armstrong. His interest in Molly Hatchet led to a record deal with Epic Records and bringing in Tom Werman as a producer. Werman was already well-known in the industry for working with other popular acts of the period, including Cheap Trick, Stranger and Ted Nugent. A lesser known fact was that Skynyrd's Ronnie Van Zant was slated to produce Molly Hatchet's first album. He had done arranging and rehearsed the band in preparation, before leaving on the ill-fated tour. Molly Hatchet cut their first demos in Skynyrds 8-track studio using their equipment. Hatchet would have been Van Zant's first production project outside of Skynyrd.
Dave Hlubek has also stated that, although a difficult subject, it was the end (at the time) of Lynyrd Skynyrd - who were at the height of their success - that opened the door for Molly Hatchet. While Molly Hatchet is generally considered Southern rock, founding member Hlubek suggests it was only because of the location. He considered Molly Hatchet, along with another band from the same area - Blackfoot, to actually be metal bands from the South. Hlubek was himself not a Southerner before moving to Jacksonville, Fla. - he was in fact from San Jose, California. Prior to the band's signing with Epic Records, they often toured the Florida roadhouse and bar circuit. Hlubek was the band's original vocalist, prior to Danny Joe Brown's joining. Hlubek also wrote and co-produced the majority of the band's songs.
The result of the teaming of Tom Werman, a producer known for working with straight hard-rock acts, with a Southern-influenced band led to a new development in the Southern rock genre. Combining boogie, blues and hard rock, Molly Hatchet's sound was differentiated from more country-influenced acts such as The Outlaws. Perhaps more effectively than most other Southern rock acts, their music expressed the values, hopes - and excesses - of 1970s working-class youth in a Southern metropolitan area like Jacksonville.
The band recorded and released its first album eponymously titled Molly Hatchet in 1978, followed by Flirtin' with Disaster in 1979. Molly Hatchet proceeded to tour behind the record and gained an increasing fan base. Some observers note that certain "success syndrome" problems led singer Danny Joe Brown, whose gruff voice and tough yet amicable persona had defined the act to that point, to leave the band at the end of the 1970s.

1980s
In 1980 Brown left the group to form The Danny Joe Brown Band (with future Molly Hatchet guitarist Bobby Ingram) and was replaced by vocalist Jimmy Farrar. Along with Farrar came a new approach to the band's sound. The earlier albums are said to feature more variation in guitar tone and style, along with a more overt southern influence, which changed with the addition of Farrar on vocals. By this time, other acts such as Van Halen had made harder metal-influenced rock one of the more popular in the 1980s. This fact was not lost on the band and its producer. Danny Joe Brown's stage persona, gruff voice and cowboy horse-whistling had matched well with the overtly southern influenced sounds of his era. Molly Hatchet's carefully crafted downhome, rough boy image certainly was not in opposition to Farrar's aggressive vocal work. This new vocal style mixed with the new harder-rocking sound saw Molly Hatchet briefly become the most popular Southern Rock act for a short time in the early 1980s. In contrast, by 1982, .38 Special enjoyed a string of hits and MTV videos in the early 1980s with a polished style that had moved even farther from the traditional country/southern sound.
With the success of a more, harder-rocking "Beatin' the Odds" release, the band ventured even farther away from their original sound. By 1981, Molly Hatchet had almost completely abandoned their original style of 1978 for a straight ahead rock style exhibited on the Take No Prisoners release of the same year. This album had a less-than-warm reception from many of the fans of the original sound and while the band was still successful on the touring circuit, Farrar left the act in 1981.
Brown rejoined the band in 1982 and Banner Thomas left and was replaced by Riff West. B.B. Bordan (also known as B.B. Queen, playing drums for Mother's Finest) replaced Crump on Drums. In 1983, a new album was released titled No Guts... No Glory. Steve Holland left and was replaced by keyboardist John Galvin. This period saw the band return to its more overt southern style it had displayed on its debut record in 1978. However, with the addition of keyboards into the mix, the band managed to take this sound to an even more orchestrated approach on some songs such as "Fall of the Peacemakers". Critics hailed the "No Guts....No Glory" album as the band's true return to form, but southern rock no longer enjoyed the widespread appeal it had previously. As a result, the record went largely unnoticed, in contrast to the glory years of 1979's "Flirtin' With Disaster", but did rejuvenate interest from the band's fan base, who had started to drift after the uncharacteristic "Take No Prisoners" album of 1981.
In 1984 came the release of a new album The Deed Is Done for which Bruce Crump returned to replace B.B. Bordan on drums. Then in 1985, the double live album Double Trouble Live was released. In 1989 the album Lightning Strikes Twice was released, in which Dave Hlubek left and was replaced by Bobby Ingram.

1990s
In 1991, the greatest hits collection Greatest Hits was released. The band continued to play selected shows and tours but pulled back from recording more new albums for a time. However, by the mid-1990s, they were again working on a new studio album.
In 1996 due to a stroke and illness Brown had to leave the band, bringing in lead singer Phil McCormack to finish the album Devil's Canyon in 1996. During the later 1990s, the band was curiously comprised of a lineup which contained not a single original member who had performed on the debut self-titled album or "Flirtin with Disaster"; Bobby Ingram had obtained a license from the original members to work with the name. As Ingram had recorded on the last Molly Hatchet album that featured the original members, he was technically considered an "original" member himself. Tours during the late 1990s saw enthusiastic audiences largely unconcerned with this fact. At this point, the band consisted of vocalist Phil McCormack, guitarists Bobby Ingram and Bryan Bassett, keyboardist John Galvin, bassist Andy McKinney, and drummer Mac Crawford.
In 1998 Silent Reign Of Heroes was released. In 1999, the band traveled coast to coast with Charlie Daniels and the Volunteer Jam.

2000s
In 2000, the album The Kingdom Of XII was released in Europe. The band went on tour to promote this album. It was released in the United States in 2001. Locked and Loaded and 25th Anniversary: Best Of Re-Recorded (2003) and Warriors of the Rainbow Bridge (2005) followed.
In June of 2000, Ingram became the sole owner of the Trade and Service Mark "Molly Hatchet" acquired from Pat Armstrong the original manager of the band. Armstrong had the rights and a full assignment was transferred to Ingram and now is the sole and legal owner of the name, likeness, and has full rights, title, goodwill and interest in the Mark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.
In January 2005, Ingram invited Hlubek to rejoin Molly Hatchet where he remains today.
Danny Joe Brown died on Thursday, March 10, 2005, less than an hour after returning to his home in Davie, Florida from a four week hospitalization. He was of 53. obituary report. He had previously left the group due to the suffering from a massive stroke in 1995 while driving to his brother's house. After a long battle with diabetes and the effects of the stroke, Brown was able to take the stage one last time at the Jammin' for DJB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZM6PidbXh2Y benefit concert in 1998 where with the help of his friends he ended the show with "Flirtin' with Disaster."
On Monday, June 19, 2006, founding guitarist Duane Roland died at his home in St. Augustine, Florida at the age of 53 according to Bobby Ingram on the Molly Hatchet MySpace website. His death was listed as being of "natural causes" according to a June 25, 2006 The Boston Globe Associated Press obituary .
Several of the band's original members have joined and are currently touring with Gator Country.

My name is Julian. I was born on a river in 1970 in a small town in the center of the Netherlands called Beneden-Leeuwen. Since I was born I have been a restless person, This is something that I still have today. Only until I was 6 years old I knew where this was coming from; I saw this movie called the Toronto rock ‘n roll festival. There I saw Jerry lee lewis and Chuck Berry.
From that day on I knew what I was going to be In my life I wanted to make music. I was hooked as a little child on what I felt when I saw this movie, it was Jerry lees immense energy and maybe more important for my future I saw Chuck’s guitar.
My mother saw that I dreamed and talked only about guitars from that day on. So they gave me little toyguitars and stuff like that but I kept dreaming about the real thing. By the time I was 10 I was into bands like Motorhead and AC/DC, Judas priest and Iron Maiden and more heavy stuff. Loud guitars and big Marshall amps and again a lot of energy.
They saw me listening to music that most children of my age weren’t doing at that time so I started again about a real guitar and when I was about 12 years old I got one an Ibanez les paul copy which I still have today.
With a guitar comes an amplifier so they gave me this 30 watt Yamaha where I could practice with. I started to listen to anything I could lay my hands on, and this is something that I still do today. I have never had no musical schooling so this is for me the only way to learn music. By listening and playing you start to know how things work. A friend of mine taught me some basic chords and a few scales and something about where to put your fingers and that was it. The rest was up to me. By the time I was 13 I heard something that really got me deep emotionally and his name was Muddy Waters. From that day on I decided to dedicate my life to blues and bluesrock.
When I was not in school I played guitar, I kinda locked myself in my room to become what I wanted. The guitar became and still is an obsession for me. I’m a very quiet guy in fact and this instrument really gave me the chance to express my feelings. When I was 17 years old it was 1987 and that was great year for me because I met a girl who is now my wife; someone who knows what drives me in being a musician and understand what music means to me. And it was the first time I saw Rory Gallagher.
He shocked my world big time. That was what I was going to be. I started a band and two years later I quit school, because we had a lot of gigs and becoming a history teacher was not my thing.I must have had a thousand jobs and a lot of jams and bands and duo’s but by the time I was 26 I started this band called Julian Sas Band.
We got a record deal and the first album was called ‘Where will it end!?’. And that my friends is still the story today, when it is up to me we got along time coming, because we really love what we do. For me being a musician is all about freedom and doing what you really love. I am fortunate to be in such a position but then again I worked hard for it and still work hard for it because nothing in life comes easy.So this is my story. I want to tell you that for me playing music is something I try to do until the day I will lay my guitar down and I will meet the great spirits in the sky. I will always write songs about loneliness and oppression and being free out on the road. Music still comforts my ever restless soul. Which after all these years is still inside of me…

Charles Christopher "Chris" Duarte (born February 16, 1963, San Antonio, Texas, USA) is an Atlanta-based guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. Duarte plays a rhythmic style of Texas blues-rock that draws on elements of jazz, blues, and rock 'n' roll.

Background
Duarte won a major label deal with Silvertone Records and released Texas Sugar/Strat Magik in 1994, and was named “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s 1995 Reader's Poll. He finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category behind Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King.
Though Duarte has played a limited number of U.S. dates in recent years with the Japanese band Bluestone backing him, he performs primarily as a power trio, The Chris Duarte Group. Originally formed with long-time friend and collaborator John Jordan on bass, the latest incarnation features Joseph Patrick Moore on bass and Jeff Reilly on drums. Apart from his band, Duarte has performed as a session player with Julie Burrell, Diana Cantu, Alan Parsons, Bobby Mack, Tracy Conover, Indigenous, Omar & the Howlers, and the Talking Heads.

Although he was born in Pennsylvania, Kubek grew up in Texas and is associated with the Texas blues style. He played with Freddie King while still a teenager, and put together his own band to tour in the Dallas area. He met Bnois King in the 1980s, and together they put together the first incarnation of Kubek's band. Kubek signed to Bullseye Blues in 1991 and released his debut record; he has steadily released albums since then.
